About Charley’s Angels Dog Training

I’m Averil, a qualified dog trainer helping families across Conwy, Llandudno, Colwyn Bay and North Wales build calm, confident dogs.

Life with a dog should feel good.

Calm walks.

Freedom.

Connection.

Not being dragged down the street, shouting their name into the wind, or apologising for barking every time someone walks past.

That’s where I come in.

I help dog owners across North Wales who feel overwhelmed, frustrated, or who feel like things just aren’t working the way they imagined.

Maybe recall disappears the second you unclip the lead.

Maybe walks feel like an arm workout you didn’t ask for.

Maybe you’d just love to sit in a café with friends without constant chaos.

Whatever it looks like for you, the goal is the same - you want to actually enjoy your dog again.

And that’s exactly what we work towards.

My mission

My mission is simple:

Less stress, more understanding, and dogs people genuinely love living with.

Because our dogs aren’t here forever, and life’s too short to spend it constantly battling behaviour problems.

Training shouldn’t be about control or “being the boss”.

It should be about trust, clarity, and teamwork.

Relationship first

Everything starts with connection. When your dog trusts you, everything else gets easier.

Welfare always

Your dog’s emotional and physical wellbeing comes first. Always.

Clear communication

Dogs can’t guess what we mean. I’ll show you how to make things simple and consistent.

Kindness

No fear. No force. Just kind and fair training.

Empathy

Real life is messy. You’re not failing, you just need the right support.

Dogs have always been part of my life, but it was my own struggles that pushed me into training properly.

I didn’t want perfection.

I just wanted calm walks, a dog who listened, and a home that didn’t feel stressful.

The more I learned about how dogs actually think and learn, the more everything made sense, and the more I realised how much old school advice was making things harder than they needed to be.

So Charley’s Angels Dog Training was born.

Now I get to help other owners skip the overwhelm, cut through the noise, and build real-life skills that actually stick.

My Approach

I use reward based, evidence led training, using things like food, toys, play and praise to motivate you and your dog. Dogs learn best when they feel safe and motivated.

No force.

No fear.

No quick-fix gimmicks.

We will focus on building a solid relationship first. Once that’s in place, things like coming back when called , walking nicely on a lead , focus and calmness all fall into place much more naturally.

Training should feel doable and practical, not overwhelming.

It needs to work in real life, not just in a class or perfect environment.

About Me

I live in Penrhyn Bay with my husband and my sidekick Charley. When I’m not training, you’ll usually find me walking with Charley (a very opinionated Tibetan Terrier who definitely thinks she runs the show), holidaying, or planning which fun trick I can teach next!

Fair warning: I almost always have dog treats in my pockets.
